The 5th Annual GSITE Conference will be held on Friday, February 6th, 2026, at the UMSL Millennium Student Center at 17 Arnold B Grobman Drive. Raffle prizes will be drawn for in-person attendees. A Social will be held after the conference. There will be a virtual option available for those that cannot make it to the conference in person.

Keynote Speaker Highlights:
Tom Ryan Keynote: Revitalizing Downtown St. Louis – Sarah Arnosky Ko
Sarah Arnosky Ko is a senior director at Greater St. Louis, Inc., an economic development organization committed to driving economic growth in the St. Louis region. In her role, Arnosky Ko leads the implementation of key initiatives that activate and enhance Downtown St. Louis. As a champion for creating spaces for people, she has led projects to advance multimodal streetscapes, purposeful placemaking and events, and street-level commercial activity.
Arnosky Ko has a B.A. in biology from Kalamazoo College and a Master of Public Health from Washington University in St. Louis. She serves on the Tower Grove Park Board of Commissioners and TEDxStLouis Board of Advisors. In her spare time, Arnosky Ko can be found playing roller derby with Arch Rival Roller Derby and USA Roller Derby and exploring playgrounds with her family.
Lunch Keynote: Designing for Next Generation Infrastructure – Linda C. Samuels
Linda C. Samuels, RA, PhD, is Professor and Chair of urban design at the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis and the inaugural Director of Sustainable Design and Environmental Justice for the School. She teaches inter-disciplinary studios and seminars on systems-based urban design, urban history and theory, and alternative sustainability metrics.
Samuels’s research focuses on ideas of infrastructural opportunism – leveraging investment in large-scale systems to create more socially and environmentally productive public works. She is currently working with ShadeLA and the Festival Trail team on grassroots planning for a more bike, pedestrian, and transit forward LA28 Olympics as well as convening research, teaching, and outreach focused on co-creating a more resilient St. Louis. She has partnered with Virgin Hyperloop One, Food Forward, Impossible Foods, and local, regional, and state agencies in Missouri, Arizona, and California.
Previously, Dr. Samuels was the inaugural director of the Sustainable City Project (SCP), a multidisciplinary research, teaching, and outreach initiative of the University of Arizona where she worked with public and private partners on micro- to macro-scaled sustainability efforts in southern Arizona and the larger megaregion.
Samuels’s book, Infrastructural Optimism, is available now from Routledge.
Closing Keynote: Public Agency Roundtable with MoDOT, IDOT, and EWG – Tom Blair, Joseph Monroe, and Jim Wild
Join us for a roundtable discussion with top representatives from several of the area’s most prominent public agencies. Attendees will be able to submit questions for the panel to discuss.

Event Charity
Firm Foundation is an academic assistance program that pairs a diverse group of volunteer tutors with mostly immigrant and refugee children in after-school and summer tutoring programs. Tutors are paired with the same students throughout the school semesters and meet on a weekly basis. The summer tutoring program pairs academics with enrichment activities.
2026 Award Nominations
GSITE is excited to recognize our members through our yearly awards program. This year, the Gateway Section will be awarding 3 professional awards: the GSITE Transportation Professional of the Year Award, the GSITE Transportation Achievement of the Year Award, and the GSITE Rising Star Award. Applications are available now to submit your nominations. The applications have been updated to directly align with the requirements of the MOVITE District awards program to allow GSITE members the opportunity to easily apply at other levels of the organization as well. Nominations should be submitted no later than January 6, 2026.
The Gateway Section is awarding one (1) student scholarship to encourage students to pursue a career path within the transportation industry. The application can be found below and all applications should be submitted no later than January 6, 2026.
